This policy describes information PiklUp currently collects, why it is used, and the choices available to you.
Information you provide
- Account information such as name, email, password hash, date of birth, verification, and account status.
- Profile information such as display name, bio, photos, gender, dominant hand, playing preferences, availability, and self-reported DUPR rating.
- Primary Playing Area, playing locations, cities, ZIP codes, regions, facilities, search history, and discovery radius.
- Interactions including choices, Connections, Paddles, Play Requests, messages, notifications, reports, and blocks.
Location information
PiklUp does not continuously track your phone’s GPS location. You intentionally enter or select a general city, ZIP code, region, facility, or Primary Playing Area. Exact coordinates are stored privately and used by the server to calculate approximate distances. Other players see approximate distance and general playing-area labels, not exact coordinates or a home address.
Technical information
The service necessarily processes IP address for security and login rate limiting, along with ordinary request, browser, session-cookie, and server log information when available. PiklUp currently has no advertising tracker or analytics SDK.
How information is used
We use information to create and secure accounts, display approved public profiles, rank and search players, calculate approximate distance, process Connections and Play Requests, authorize messaging, deliver notifications, provide Premium access, prevent abuse, investigate reports, support users, and maintain the service.
What other players see
Depending on your profile and settings, other players may see your display name or first name and last initial, profile photos, age rather than birth date, bio, DUPR, playing preferences, availability, general playing areas, and approximate distance. They do not see your email, password, authentication tokens, exact coordinates, or internal identifiers.
Service providers
PiklUp may use infrastructure and email providers to host the service and deliver account email. User-initiated location searches may be sent to a configured geocoding provider. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Retention
Information is retained while needed to provide and secure PiklUp. Account deletion removes or anonymizes personal profile data according to operational and legal requirements. Safety, abuse, security, transaction, and legal records may be retained longer where reasonably necessary.
Your choices
You can update profile privacy, notification preferences, blocked users, and account information in Settings. You can request permanent account deletion from Safety & Privacy. You may also contact us to request access, correction, or deletion, subject to verification and legal exceptions.
Security
We use password hashing, session controls, authorization checks, validation, rate limiting, and restricted access to sensitive fields. No security method is perfect, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children’s privacy
PiklUp is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Additional age restrictions may apply under local law.
